'Battlefield 1' Turning Tides Expansion Details Revealed

Following the release of this year's They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar, DICE has revealed the details the next "Battlefield 1" expansion. Titled "Turning Tides," the expansion will be split over two months with the majority of content to arrive this December.

The DLC (downloadable content) expansion will feature new vehicles and a new class. These are the L-Class Destroyer and C-Class Airship, and the elite class The Infiltrator. A number of mini-challenges, service assignments, specializations, and unlocks will also be included.

Two new maps in Cape Helles and Achi Baba will also arrive in the first half of the expansion. Gallipoli, a new operation based on the British amphibious assault on the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915 pitting the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) against the Ottoman Empire will also arrive then.

In terms of weapons, "Turning Tides" will introduce six guns and two melee weapons to "Battlefield 1." These include the M1917 Trench Carbine, Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16, Farquhar-Hill, M1917 MG, Carcano M91 Carbine, Type 38 Arisaka, Naval Cutlass, and the Grappling Hook.

As for the latter half of the expansion, a new faction, the British Empire's Royal Marines, will make their debut post-New Year. They will arrive along with another pair of new maps Heligoland Bight and Zeebrugge.

A new game mode, dubbed "Conquest Assault" will also make its debut in "Turning Tides." According to DICE's description, the mode will feature teams of attackers and defenders capture and defend key areas in a twist of the original "Conquest mode."

Premium Pass owners will be able to enjoy the expansion's January offerings in December. However, in a recent blog post, DICE revealed that non-premium pass owners can still sample these new features for a limited time allowing them to join in on the amphibious warfare of Heligoland Bight and Zeebrugge.

"Battlefield 1" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
