Battlefield 4 PC Update Out Today, Multiplayer Server Down Temporarily as Patch Arrives
A Battlefield 4 PC update is coming later today in order to fix corrupt save files and glitches affecting gameplay.
As DICE is rolling out the new patch, Battlefield 4 multiplayer for Windows PC is currently down to aid in the fix.
"We're rolling out a new server update starting at 11AM UTC Dec 9. During this deploy for a few hours, BF4 multiplayer on PC will be unavailable. At the same time, we're rolling out a new game update on PC [battlelog.battlefield.com]," read a post on Battlelog. "Various server side crash fixes, including the top seen crashes on R14, Activated the reservedSlotsList.aggressiveJoin command that enables VIP players and server administrators directly joining full servers, Client patch compatibility to make servers compatible with the Dec 09 client update."
The Xbox 360 patch was released late last week, and had to be installed manually once the game is booted up.
The patch was essentially the same thing as the PS3 one that was released the day before, and will work to fix the bugs and glitches that have plagued the game since its launch.
"Multiplayer Update 3" can be downloaded from the Xbox Live Marketplace reports Polygon.
"This patch is mainly focused at increasing game stability and contains a number of crash fixes. Accumulated, these fixes should help increase stability overall in the game. Reduced the risk of a crash when transitioning from one multiplayer round to another. Fixed a crash that could occur when creating decals (bullet hit effects, etc.). Fixed a crash that could occur when leaving vehicles. Fixed a crash that could occur when moving outside of the intended play area. Fixed a crash that could occur when firing the MBT and IFV gunner incendiary weapon. Fixed a crash that could occur when opening the Options menu. Fixed a problem with weapon accessories using up too much memory, which in turn could lead to crashing," Battlelog posted.
EA games announced that they would not be working on the new Battlefield 4 DLCs and expansions until the actual game is fixed of its glitches and bugs.
According to gamers, the online connection issues and server problems have become even worse with the release of the next-gen versions of the game.
"First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game – it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we're not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right," EA games said in a statement.
Battlefield 4 was released on Oct. 29 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, the PS4 on Nov. 15, and the Xbox One on Nov. 22.
