'Battlefield: Bad Company 3' May Not Be Released or Even Announced Anytime Soon

Rumors previously hinting that 'Bad Company 3' could arrive next year now look unlikely to come true

Just recently, the video game rumor mill began to churn out all kinds of interesting tidbits related to a potential "Battlefield: Bad Company 3" game.

It did not take long for those rumors to catch on as well, showing that there is indeed interest in this potential sequel.

The first "Bad Company" game injected new life into the series by introducing destructible environments as well as a single player campaign that featured compelling characters and a plot made more interesting by humorous moments.

The second "Bad Company" title took things to another level by bringing more destructive elements into the fold and providing players with more freedom to just go nuts. The next-level destruction allowed players to become more creative, and developers also made sure to include a new single player campaign that could serve as a worthy follow-up to the one featured in the first entry.

Both titles garnered rave reviews from critics and fans alike, making it easy to understand why the "Battlefield: Bad Company 3" rumors caught on so quickly.

Unfortunately for fans, that third game being released is looking like a longshot at the moment.

In a recent article, Eurogamer's Tom Phillips dove deeper into the "Bad Company 3" rumors and was told by sources close to DICE that while an idea for the game had "existed," the sequel itself is not in development currently.

Furthermore, rumors are now indicating that the next "Battlefield" game is going to be set in World War II.

What all this means is that "Bad Company 3" appears far from being ready, and it is unclear if work on it will ever pick up at all.

The caretakers of the "Battlefield" franchise seem to have their sights set on creating something else at this moment in time, and that may unfortunately lead to "Battlefield: Bad Company 3" being put on the back burner for the foreseeable future or perhaps even getting shelved for good.
