'Baywatch' Movie News: Pamela Anderson Changes Tune, Joins Cast of Movie Version of the TV Show She Starred In
Another original cast member of the hit '90s TV series, "Baywatch," has joined the cast of the big screen adaptation of the said show: Pamela Anderson, who played the original CJ Parker in the series.
This piece of news was confirmed by one of the "Baywatch" movie's main cast, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who now plays the role that was once breathed life into by David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff, Mitch Buccanon. Incidentally, Hasselhoff is also part of the movie version.
Apparently, there is a change of tune on the part of Anderson as she was vocal about her displeasure when it was announced that the series that catapulted her to stardom and made her a household name back then is being adapted into the movie.
"No one appreciates remakes," was her statement then according to TMZ. She allegedly also added that the reboot wouldn't be fit for the current time as the period when the "Baywatch" series was experiencing its heydays, life was simpler and sweeter.
However, with Anderson's inclusion in the movie version of the show that she starred in more than two decades ago, it is expected that her presence will give the "Baywatch" movie a feel of its small screen version.
"She introduced the world to 'CJ Parker' and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation - for the most successful TV show of all time…a pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our Baywatch cast. We couldn't have made this movie without you. Welcome home. Thrilled you had a blast with us!" goes the caption of Johnson's uploaded Instagram photo.
"Baywatch" is top billed by Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Hannibal Buress, and Priyanka Chopra as the main villain.
Meanwhile, the role that Anderson became famous for is now portrayed by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie of the Year in 2015, Kelly Rohrbach.
"Baywatch" arrives in theaters on May 19, 2017.
