'Beauty and the Beast' News: Movie Teaser Revealed; Emma Watson Shares Big Challenge as Belle
The highly anticipated live action adaptation of the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast" released its first teaser.
Fans recently got a look at Emma Watson's portrayal of the iconic Disney character, Belle, when the teaser for "Beauty and the Beast" was released on Good Morning America. The teaser showed Watson as Belle arriving at the castle of the Beast. It also featured the voices of several other characters anticipating Belle's arrival.
Aside from the teaser, Watson was also able to share details about her role. According to Total Film Magazine, the actress spoke about her experience in the movie, saying that it was different than the other films she was involved with before.
Though many commended the choice of casting Watson as Belle, Watson herself explained that she faced some challenges with her role. She said, "I sing, so that's really unexpected. I've never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that. It gives me a different challenge, really. That's terrifying in and of itself!"
Nevertheless, everyone is looking forward for her portrayal of Belle. The original voice actor who played the role of Belle, Paige O'Hara also spoke to Buzzfeed about her excitement in seeing Watson as Belle. She said, "If I were producing the film, I would have cast her. I think she's absolutely perfect for the role. She's got the outward beauty, but she's also got an inward beauty about her, and an old soul."
Along with Watson, the cast includes Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as le Fou Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Audra McDonald as Garderobe.
The upcoming live action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" is expected to release on Mar. 17, 2017.
