Ben Carson Jr. Says His Father Has 'Truth and Pure Intentions' on His Side
Ben Carson Jr., the middle son of 2016 GOP presidential candidate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, came out in defense of his father Tuesday night telling supporters that his father is a honest man with "truth and pure intentions" on his side.
In a direct pushback at recent media attacks challenging the credibility of his father, Carson Jr., a finance executive who is the founder and chairman of Interprise, said in an e-mail to Carson's supporters before the Fox Business/WSJ GOP Debate that his father built his life on honesty.
"My dad, Dr. Ben Carson, isn't perfect, nor does he claim to be — except maybe on the pool table. But he has lived his life in an exemplary fashion. He taught my brothers and me the importance of being honest and making choices that we wouldn't come to regret," began Carson Jr.
"As a rule, sons tend to admire their fathers, but it's great to be able to say that my role model is my dad. This is what has made the past couple of weeks so tough to watch. We are not a political family but we know campaigns are tough, particularly the scrutiny that comes with them. But it's hard to prepare for people, particularly those in the media, lying so blatantly about him," he continued.
He added: "However, I know things will work out because he has two of the most powerful weapons on his side — the truth and pure intentions."
Carson Jr., also known as "Sol" to his family is married to Dr. Merlynn Carson. They have a 3-year-old daughter named Tesora who joined her doting grandfather at the GOP debate Tuesday night.
"Tesora was really excited to come to the debate she's been talking about it with all her preschoolers," said Carson Jr., in a Fox Business report in which he noted that his daughter is unfazed by the political drama.
"She thinks it's pretty amazing but she also thinks it's normal, she was born during all this stuff going on so we asked her the other day who are her favorite people on Fox News and she said grandma and grandpa," he explained.
Carson Jr., also reiterated his support for his father's candidacy after the debate.
"My dads' always been my hero ever since we were little he was always accomplishing incredible things it's just the next step. The one thing about this one is that he doesn't want to do it, he feels like it is needed for the country," said Carson Jr.
"We support him 100%. I told him when he's going to run whatever he needs we are going to do and we are just glad to be a part of it," said Carson. "He is an honest guy and he's actually out for the good of the country and he is not bought and paid for by special interests."
Ben Carson has two other sons, his oldest Murray and youngest Rhoeyce. Murray is a mechanical engineer who graduated from Yale and Rhoeyce is a seasoned CPA.
