Best Man Fatally Stabs Bride, Wounds Husband - Motive Unknown
A best man has fatally stabbed a bride at a home in North Carolina this week.
Jonathan Wayne Broyhill served as the best man in the 2009 wedding between bride, Jamie Kirk Hahn, and best friend, Nation Richard Hahn.
However, the relationship between the couple and the best man took a dark twist this week when, according to the Huffington Post, Broyhill, 31, was arrested Wednesday.
Broyhill was charged with the murder of Jamie Hahn, 29, and the stabbing of Nation, 27.
Hahn tragically died in the attack, and Nation survived.
Hahn's family said in a statement: "We lost a beautiful and loving wife, daughter and friend … We all lost a pure and brave spirit. She had a gift for bringing us together – black and white, young and old, gay and straight. She challenged us to work together for a better world."
Authorities have not yet reported any motive for the attacks, however, they did confirm that it was not "domestic related."
According to some reports, Broyhill had been invited to the couple's house on Monday night for dinner. The reports describe that Nation went out from the room, and when he returned he found his former best man attacking and stabbing his wife.
He tried to intervene but was stabbed by the attacker, and although he survived the attack, his wife tragically passed away from her wounds.
Nation has since taken to Twitter to post: "I lost my best friend last night. The sadness is overwhelming … I want to thank everyone for prayers for Jamie. That type of community spirit defined Jamie. I have no idea what I am going to do without Jamie. She was my center, my rock and my soul mate."
