Best Places in NYC to Watch July 4th Fireworks
This year's Macy's "Ignite the Night" Fourth of July fireworks show will feature 40,000 fireworks in a 25 minute showcase of some of the largest and most expensive fireworks available. However, those hoping to catch the show will know that a clear view is essential.
In addition to the fireworks there are also scheduled performances by pop star Katy Perry and country singer Kenny Chesney. With New York having one of the largest and most famous fireworks shows across the nation, those heading out to marvel in the exploding glory should take note of the best places to observe the spectacle and also what places to avoid so as not to disrupt the festivities.
Officials have stated that the fireworks may be seen from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the Hudson River. For those who do not want to venture out to see the fireworks the display will also be broadcast live on NBC

The Macy's fireworks display will have four barges loaded with fireworks which will be located from 18th Street through 43rd Street along the Hudson River.
For the best views officials suggest going to 12th Avenue below W. 59th Street, entering at the following access points along 11th Avenue:
W. 24th Street
W. 26th through 30th Streets
W. 34th Street
W. 40th through 44th Streets
W. 47th through 52nd Streets
W. 54th through 57th Streets
New York City authorities have stated that there are several spots that are not viewing areas for this year's fireworks show. The East River, Battery Park, Battery Park City, all Hudson River Piers -- except limited access to Piers 54 and 84 -- the Hudson River Park promenade between W. Houston at 59th Street and the Hudson River Park Bike Path between W. Houston and 59th Street.
Officials strongly encourage using public transportation for those who are coming into the city as this marks the 36th annual fireworks show in New York City and parking is sure to be scarce.
