'Best Song Ever' Video Delights Fans, Gets 11 Million Views in a Day, Breaks Record
Just yesterday, Monday July 24, the British boy band One Direction debuted the music video for their new single "Best Song Ever," and it is already extremely successful.
Within just 24 hours, the video earned a huge 10.9 million views on Vevo, breaking the record for most views within 24 hours on Vevo, USA Today reported. In fact, One Direction's "Best Song Ever" music video broke the record by 2 million views. The previous record was held by Miley Cyrus, who racked up 10.7 million views in the first 24 hours when her video for single "We Can't Stop" was put up.
Fans didn't seem put off by the boastful title, which is reasonable, considering the lyrics clear up that the British band is not referring to their own song with the title.
"And we danced all night to the best song ever / We know every line now I can't remember / How it goes but I know that I won't forget her / Cause we danced all night to the best song ever," One Direction sings in the chorus.
Fans comments on social media sites were very complimentary of the new song and video.
"When I watched the music video, it just made the song … the best song ever. And now I can't stop singing it," wrote Letit Besung on YouTube.
"Oh One Direction … You are wonderful, you showed us that you will be the same cool and wonderful," wrote Kate Bulavina on YouTube.
And YouTube commenter Maria Dancia Bautista summed up her feelings about One Direction's new single by simply writing, "Best song ever."
