Best USA City to Live in 2017 List: Naples, Florida and California Cities Top Latest Well-Being Survey
Naples, Florida once again proves itself to be one of the finest cities, if not the best, in the United States of America to live in by topping the latest survey of well-being conducted by Gallup-Healthways.
Naples scored 66.3 out of 100 in the poll, which included people from 189 metro areas. It was also Naples that led the rankings in the well-being survey held by the group for 2014 to 2015.
This new survey is not all too different from the previous one, especially looking at the topmost portion as almost the same cities sit atop, just in different slots now.
Climbing from the fifth spot, Barnstable Town, Massachusetts comes second in this new well-being survey with 66.2 followed by last year's sixth placer Santa Cruz–Watsonville, California at 65.9.
Behind that is Urban Honolulu, Hawaii, which garnered a score 65.4, catapulting it to the top three from its 13th finish in the 2014–2015 survey.
Although Naples tops the poll, the top 25 in the survey was dominated by communities in California, which had seven cities taking up the uppermost slots in the survey.
Colorado and Texas both have three cities that made it to the first 25 while Virginia and Florida each got two. The latter's second city on the list is North Port–Sarasota–Bradenton sitting at the sixth spot, which it shared with San Luis Obispo–Paso Robles–Arroyo Grande, California.
At the bottom of the survey is Fort Smith, the city that lies on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma. It scored 57.5. Much like Naples, this is Fort Smith's second consecutive year in number 189.
Last year, it occupied the same ranking but was not the last as there were 190 metro areas included in the 2014–2015.Charleston, West Virginia was last place that time.
A total of 354,000 adults from all 50 states participated in the survey, which was conducted from January 2015 through December 2016.
The well-being score was determined based on their answers to questions on various aspects of their well-being including the financial, social, physical health aspects as well as their sense of purpose and involvement in the community.
