Bethenny Frankel Divorce: 'Control Freak' Pushed Jason Hoppy Away?

Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy recently confirmed that they have separated following months of divorce reports and new claims suggest that the talk show host may have been to blame for their abrupt split.

Frankel, 42, has offered little explanation as to the real reason behind the breakdown of her 2-year marriage to Hoppy since the couple separated in December. However, new reports suggest that the reality TV star's stubborn personality may have played a role, according to People magazine.com

"There was no one turning point that caused this," a friend told people. "They tried to make it work. It just got too hard to be husband and wife."

Frankel, who shares a 2-year-old daughter with Hoppy, was often seen bickering with her husband on their hit reality show "Bethenny Ever After." Some viewers suspect that her apparent need for constant control may have ultimately cost Frankel her marriage.

"With Bethenny, it was her way or the highway," the source continued. "If you are a person who surrounds yourself with people telling you, 'You are right; we will bend over backwards to make things happen for you,' you will have a tough time in marriage. Marriage doesn't work that way."

Since first appearing on "The Real Housewives of New York City" in 2008, Frankel has gone on to become a best-selling author and highly successful entrepreneur- particularly with the launch of her Skinnygirl franchise during the same year. On "Bethenny Ever After," viewers often saw Frankel struggling to balance her work and family life, and a source suggested that she has only herself to blame for her marital woes.

"[Bethenny] thinks [Jason] is too critical of her, and he thinks his wife can be a control freak," a source told RadarOnline.com.

"Bethenny will never show it, but she's devastated that [her marriage] didn't work. She wanted it all- the career, the husband and the family," a separate source added.

Frankel broke the news just days before Christmas and described the decision to separate from Hoppy as "difficult."

"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family," Frankel said in a statement obtained by Radar.

"We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter (Brynn), who is, and will always remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us," she added.
