Bethenny Frankel Divorce 'Really Difficult,' Bashing Ex?

Bethenny Frankel remains embroiled in a custody battle with ex-husband Jason Hoppy in divorce that is proving to be "really difficult."

After more than two years together, Frankel and Hoppy announced their divorce just ahead of the holidays last year.

However, the legal proceedings are not yet over, and the exes remain involved in a bitter custody battle over their daughter, Bryn. Just last month, Frankel and Hoppy headed to court in an attempt to settle the custody of the two-year-old.

"[It] was really difficult for Bethenny," said a source close to the Skinnygirl founder at the time, according to Us Weekly. "The divorce is taking a toll on her. She just wants what's best for her daughter. She wants this divorce to be over and done with, but it's being drawn out by Jason. All Bethenny wants to do is move on."

To make matters worse, Frankel is being accused of slandering Hoppy in front of their daughter, according to reports this week.

Following last month's unsuccessful court date where the former spouses were unable to reach a financial and custody agreement, Frankel and Hoppy engaged in a verbal argument.

"Bethenny became enraged and called him trash in front of their daughter," a source told RadarOnline. "The argument took place in their swanky Tribeca apartment. She also said Jason was lazy, and stupid because Jason doesn't have a regular full-time job."

The insider noted that Hoppy is "very careful" about what he says about his ex-wife in the presence of their daughter, but that Frankel "doesn't play by the same rules."

Meanwhile, Frankel has been very outspoken about her struggles with the divorce.

In her statement about the split, Frankel said that 2012 has been the "toughest year ever" for both herself and Hoppy.

"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating," said Frankel in Sunday's statement. "This was an extremely difficult decision as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family."

"We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority," she added. "This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us."
