Bethenny Frankel Divorce Struggle, 'Difficult to Stay Sane'
Bethenny Frankel is still embroiled in a bitter divorce from Jason Hoppy and the struggle is taking its toll.
The Skinnygirl founder announced the divorce just two days before Christmas and cited her "great sadness" over the decision.
Despite filing over six months ago, the legal proceedings are not yet over, and the exes remain involved in an unpleasant custody battle over their daughter, Bryn. Just two months ago, Frankel and Hoppy headed to court in an attempt to settle the custody of the two-year-old.
As a result, Frankel admitted that it has "been difficult to stay sane" while speaking to Life & Style recently.
Nonetheless, Frankel regards the 3-year-old daughter she shares with Hoppy as the light at the end of the tunnel.
"For every rough thing there's a reason for it, and there's a reason you had those struggles," the 44-year-old said optimistically. "When you're going through a rough time, you have to say, 'I know I'm going through these hard things and even though it's difficult to see clearly, the light is coming at the end of it."
Her daughter Bryn, she added, is "unbelievable."
"She is the light of my life, and she gets me through this," the former "Real Housewives of New York" star added.
At the time of the split, Frankel said in her statement that it had been the "toughest year ever" for both herself and Hoppy.
"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating," said Frankel at the time. "This was an extremely difficult decision as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family."
"We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority," she added. "This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us."
In the months that followed, Frankel has struggled to reach an agreement with Hoppy.
"The divorce is taking a toll on her," a source close to the Skinnygirl CEO told Us Weekly. "She just wants what's best for her daughter. She wants this divorce to be over and done with, but it's being drawn out by Jason. All Bethenny wants to do is move on."
