Bethenny Frankel Files For Divorce, Marriage 'Got Too Hard'
Bethenny Frankel has filed for divorce just weeks after confirming her separation from her husband of two years Jason Hoppy, it has been claimed.
The 42-year-old talk show host reportedly began legal proceedings by filing a divorce summons in New York just after New Years Eve, according to TMZ. The couple shares one daughter, two-year-old Bryn, and in a recent statement Frankel explained that her separation was best for their child.
"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating," Frankel, 42, had said in a public statement Dec. 23. "This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family."
Since Frankel confirmed the couple's split, fans of the "Bethenny Ever After" stars have been speculating the reasons behind their abrupt separation. The pair was often seen bickering on their hit Bravo TV reality show and some viewers suspect that Frankel's apparent need for constant control may have ultimately cost Frankel her marriage.
"[Bethenny] thinks [Jason] is too critical of her, and he thinks his wife can be a control freak," a source told RadarOnline.
Since first appearing on "The Real Housewives of New York City" in 2008, Frankel has gone on to become a best-selling author and highly successful entrepreneur- particularly with the launch of her Skinnygirl franchise during the same year. Some viewers suspect that Frankel struggled to balance work and family life but a source insists that there were various reasons behind her failed marriage.
"There was no one turning point that caused this. They tried to make it work. It just got too hard to be husband and wife," a source told People.
"With Bethenny, it was her way or the highway," the source continued. "If you are a person who surrounds yourself with people telling you, 'You are right; we will bend over backwards to make things happen for you,' you will have a tough time in marriage. Marriage doesn't work that way."
