'Better Call Saul' Season 2 Spoilers: Peter Gould Explains Writing Process
Updates of the upcoming second season of "Better Call Saul" have been revealed.
According to Yahoo!, the writers of the series "Better Call Saul" season 2 are working hard on making the upcoming story line. The co-creator of the series, Peter Gould, was able to share some insight on the process of how they create the stories for the series.
He explained that they put their primary focus on the development of the characters. After that, they begin to form the plot of the upcoming season. Gould stated, "I think we really let the characters shape the story. That was just one of the pleasures of doing this kind of television: you can watch the scenes and learn about the characters from watching the actors. "
He then explained that Jimmy's journey as Saul Goodman paved the way for Chuck's story to develop as well. He then commended Bob Odenkirk's commitment to the character with the statement, "Bob has a vulnerability as Jimmy. This is a guy who can be heard. We went with that. I think that vulnerability is part of the reason why people take to him the way they do."
Gould then continued to explain the challenges that the writers face when they become too attached to the characters. He said that sometimes writers feel the need to protect their characters from the consequences that their actions could bring. Therefore, it is essential for the writers to remain focused and portray the stories through the many decisions of the characters.
Nevertheless, he expressed his excitement for the upcoming season since it also took them by surprise. He stated, "We're real excited about the season. We like it an awful lot. Based on the way the last season ended, I don't think any of us would have predicted where this was going to go in season 2."
"Better Call Saul" season 2 is expected to premiere this Feb. 15, 2016.
