'Better Call Saul' Season 3: Darker, 'Breaking Bad'-Like Installment
Recently, one of the co-creators of "Better Call Saul," the prequel to "Breaking Bad," hints that viewers are in for a much darker story for the upcoming season.
The creators, cast, crew and big bosses of AMC and Sundance were recently gathered for an exclusive advance screening of the "Better Call Saul" season 3 premiere on Tuesday at Arclight Culver City.
Variety reports that series co-creator Vince Gilligan teased: "Things get quite a bit darker in season three, more 'Breaking Bad'-like. We didn't set out for that to happen, it came to us organically."

Gilligan and Peter Gould are the creative minds behind the prequel spin-off to "Breaking Bad." It mainly features what happened to Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) in 2002, or six years from when he first showed up on-screen in "Breaking Bad."
In "Better Call Saul," the main protagonist is still the small-time lawyer going by the name James Morgan "Jimmy" McGill. With the same crime drama theme, "Better Call Saul's" first season premiered in 2015 – two years after "Breaking Bad's" fifth season.
As for Gould, he reminded fans that for the third season, "It's the same challenge we always face: where's Jimmy's head at?" Since the prequel spin-off builds up the instances that made Jimmy transform to being Saul, Gould explained that the main protagonist is naturally changing constantly.
"Understanding where he is moment to moment is the biggest challenge we have. Once we understand his psychology and where he is as a person, figuring out the story is much, much easier," Gould further explained, according to Variety.
Apart from learning what is ahead of Jimmy's story, fans are also thrilled to see Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) coming back this season 3. And apparently, the cast and production team are equally looking forward to it as well.
Gould explained the excitement that comes along with the return of Gus is because his character "brings a whole world with him" and that the narrative of Gus makes the plot for "Better Call Saul" "much bigger in a certain way."
There are apparently more things for fans to be excited about season 3, especially when Odenkirk has confirmed that viewers will see Jimmy transform to become Saul this season.
"Better Call Saul" returns on Monday, April 10, at 10 p.m. EDT on AMC.
