Betty White Voted Most Trusted Celeb
Betty White, the former “Golden Girls” star, has been voted America’s most trusted celebrity, according to a recent poll. The Reuters/Ipsos poll of over 2,000 adults, including 100 famous personalities from every facet of the entertainment, sports and news industries found that 86 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of Betty White.
White topped the “most popular personalities” poll, and was closely followed by Denzel Washington, Sandra Bullock, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Kate Middleton, who tied with Morgan Freeman, and Will Smith. Johnny Depp completed the top ten with 76 percent.
Betty White has made a career comeback over the last few years with her TV Land series “Hot in Cleveland” and films like “The Proposal.” She also won an Emmy Award in 2010 for hosting sketch comedy “Saturday Night Live.” The SNL episode featuring White had the highest overnight ratings the show had seen in 18 months.
The 89-year-old was also deemed most likely to increase the sales of a brand she might decide to endorse. According to the poll 44 percent of those asked said they would be “a little or a lot more likely to do business with a company, if it were endorsed by her.”
At the other end of the spectrum Paris Hilton and Charlie Sheen were the number one and number two “most unpopular personalities.” Britney Spears, Kanye West, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tiger Woods, Kim Kardashian, Mel Gibson, Donald Trump, and LeBron James rounded out the top ten “most unpopular,” following Hilton and Sheen.
The reality TV actress and socialite, and the former “Two and a Half Men” star were also voted “most damaging to the brands they would endorse.”
