Betty White to Be Roasted
This year the Friars Club's annual roast will honor Betty White.
The 90-year-old actress will take the "hot seat" on May 16 at Manhattan's Sheraton Ballroom. Past Friars Club Roast recipients include Milton Berle, Johnny Carson, Lucille Ball, Billy Crystal, and most recently Quentin Tarantino.
"Those Friars may think I'm an easy mark, but I have 90 years of comebacks waiting for them," White said in a statement.

"This is such an honor to be roasted by the Friars Club," she continued. "It will be an afternoon filled with dirty words, risque jokes and sex talk… and that's just what I plan on saying!"
As the "Golden Girls" star is inducted into the legendary Friars Club, she also follows the footsteps of Barbra Streisand, Dean Martin, John Travolta, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joy Behar.
The Club has also roasted Robert De Niro, Bruce Willis, and comedian Jimmy Fallon.
"Betty White is one of those unique talents that comes along once every generation," said the dean of the Friars Club Freddie Roman in a statement.
"She has been making people laugh all her life, and our Roasters will need to be on their toes to handle Betty's razor sharp wit."
The Friars Club was founded in 1904 in New York City to honor entertainers.
Television executive Gary Smith will produce the roast. His former projects include the Tony and Emmy Awards.
At 90-years-old, White is still an active entertainer. Along with her upcoming roast, she will appear in "Lorax," in theaters Friday, March 2. The Illinois native has won seven Emmy Awards, three American Comedy Awards, two Viewer's for Quality Television Awards, and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995.
More recently, White received a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Elka Ostrovsky in "Hot in Cleveland." The television show has met wide success.
