'Beverly Hills Cop 4' News: Film Still a Go, A-list Actors Eyed for Key Role
Just when fans though that it is the long-gestating "Beverly Hills Cop 4" project is dead, the radio silence has finally been broken as new details about the film finally emerged.
Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who were picked last year by lead actor Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, to helm the fourth installment of the critically acclaimed franchise, confirmed on a Dutch television show that the project is still in development.
As reported by JoBlo, the duo revealed that "Beverly Hills Cop 4" will be filmed primarily in Detroit and that they will allot $50 million budget for the production. They also said that they conducted some sort of an "audition for Eddie Murphy."

With regard to the plot, the movie will feature Murphy's Alex Foley, who is now a seasoned cop years after the events of the third film, working with a younger but hardened officer. The two will inevitably clash due to their contrasting dispositions.
El Arbi and Fallah went so far as to say that A-list actors Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum are being considered for the role of the antagonist in "Beverly Hills Cop 4."
There is no word yet on when the filming will begin. It was reported last year that they are hoping to start by early 2017, which has already come and gone.
Either way, with a lot of the elements vital to kicking off production already settled, it should not be long before "Beverly Hills Cop 4" gets off the ground.
The movie has been a long time coming, having initially announced way back in the 1990s. Around that time, Brett Ratner was the choice director, but it was El Arbi and Fallah who ultimately got the gig.
As the wait for "Beverly Hills Cop 4" after its announcement continued, there were attempts to bring it back in some way, shape or form. CBS was close to reviving it in the small screen with a pilot commitment back in 2013, but the network decided against ordering it as a series.
