Beyonce 5th Studio Album Pushed Back After 'Bow Down' Backlash?

Beyonce Knowles has reportedly been forced to push back the release date for her fifth studio album following a series of backlash over two album singles.

On March 17, Beyonce, 31, released two snippets of her new singles "Bow Down / I Been On" and fans were up in arms over the anti-feminist lyrics. The Grammy award-winning singer was reportedly scheduled to release her first album in almost two years in April ahead of her world tour, however the ongoing criticism has resulted in it being scrapped altogether, according to Yahoo.

"No one thought that both records would fall flat. They were supposed to be her biggest two songs off the album," a source was quoted as telling Virgin Radio.

"It's back to the drawing board. More promo songs will be released, until she gets a hit song that everyone will embrace," the source said.

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour kicks off in Europe on April 15, 2013, and while the album was supposed to be released on April 11th, it has since been delayed.

Shortly after the song's release, R&B singer Keyshia Cole blasted Beyonce as being "self righteous" for the oppressive lyrics. Within days more high profile critics, including conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh and talk show host Wendy Williams, also condemned the controversial song.

"I know when you were little girls / You dreamt of being in my world / Don't forget it, don't forget it / Respect that, bow down b------," Beyonce boasts in the song.
