Beyonce Causes Uproar With Seemingly Topless Tour Outfit
Beyonce Knowles, the 31-year-old singer, kicked off her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Serbia Monday where she is causing controversy for an outfit revealing her anatomy.
Knowles shocked many fans across the globe when pictures surfaced of her performance, where she donned a gold sparkling outfit that outlined every detail of the top half of her body. The controversial gold bodysuit created by The Blonds NY was covered in gold sequins and glitter, giving many people the illusion that the singer was performing topless at the Kombank Arena in Belgade, Serbia.
A number of spectators took to Twitter to comment on Knowles' revealing outfit choice and the media outlets that showcased the seemingly semi-nude look.
"I'm really shocked at the costume...but I guess," one person tweeted. "I'm more shocked E! didn't censor it."
Another person thought the singer may be trying to create controversy.
"Thin line btwn creativity & trying too hard," the person tweeted.
Still, another person was offended by Knowles' outfit choice since the singer also serves as a mother to 1-year-old Blue Ivy Carter.
"Guess Beyonce wants to be as disgusting as Madonna and a real role model for her daughter," the person tweeted. "Can't respect her."
Although Knowles has been referred to by her maiden last name while performing, the singer spoke about finding a bold new identity by embracing her husband Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's last name, which she used as the title for her world tour.
"I feel like Mrs Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been. It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child," the singer said in the May issue of Vogue magazine. "I was like, 'OK, this is what you were born to do'. The purpose of my body became completely different."
