Beyonce 'Humbled' After Getting Hall of Fame Exhibit
Beyonce may not become a Hall of Famer for another eight years, but her clothing will be featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as soon as next week.
Beyonce, the 32-year-old singer, is getting her own exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Oh. Some of the singer's highly publicized outfits will be featured in the exhibit including her 2012 Met Ball gown by Givenchy, the black leotard from her "Single Ladies" music video and the bodysuit she wore for her 2013 Super Bowl performance.
Even though the exhibit usually features Hall of Famers, Rock Hall curator Meredith Rutledge-Borger explained why Beyonce was going to have her own spot reserved next week.
"When we looked at the depth of the amount of stuff that she was willing to send, we just thought, 'The only way we can really showcase these items is to put them in the Legends of Rock area in the museum,' which really is the spot that we have to pay tribute to legends of rock, which Beyonce has proven herself to be," she said, according to AP reports.
Lee Anne Callahan-Longo, the general manager of Beyonce's production house, Parkwood Entertainment, said the singer was honored to be featured in the museum.
"For an artist to be able to have a presence where all of her idols and mentors live, it is a big deal," Callahan-Longo said, according to AP. "It's very meaningful to an artist when you feel like you've accomplished certain levels and to be asked to be part of this before she's eligible, I think that's really special."
While Beyonce will be eligible to enter the Rock Hall Of Fame in 2022 as a member of Destiny's Child, she will be able to do so as a solo artist in 2027, ABC News reports. Still, Rutledge-Borger explained why the singer would get the opportunity to be featured alongside high profile Hall of Famers.
"We felt that [Beyonce] really needed to take her rightful place alongside Aretha Franklin and the Supremes and Janis Joplin," Rutledge-Borger said.
