Beyonce Illuminati Sign Shown at Halftime Show?
Beyonce's Illuminati sign has been making its rounds on the internet, as millions of Super Bowl viewers speculate on whether the world famous singer was attempting to reveal a hidden message. The sign allegedly came during the diva's halftime performance.
Beyonce's apparent use of the Illuminati sign came when she and her group members from Destiny's Child were on the stage. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were singing the group's smash hit "independent Women" when she quickly threw up a triangular hand symbol known to many to be the All-Seeing Eye or Eye of Providence.
The All-Seeing Eye is characterized by a triangle with an eye in it, representing a myriad of things— various sources debate on its meaning, from the eye of Lucifer or Satan to the eye of God, or simply that humankind is being watched. Beyonce's use of the symbol, however, has a much simpler and less sinister explanation.
"The rock I'm rockin', I've bought it / 'Cause I depend on me," the diva belted while flashing the sign. She was referring to Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records company, which is well known for their "rock" hand symbol, which at one point expressed the group's desire to sell 10 million records, or go "diamond" in music sales lingo. Jay was also the one to put a "rock" on her finger, or marry her in April of 2008.
"She was showing some love to her husband Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records, which uses the diamond as its symbol," Yahoo! Sports reported. Various other media outlets have lambasted the conspiracy theory, and joked about the rumors that spring up concerning celebrities and the alleged secret society that controls world events.
"The Illuminati are a tiny, super-secret cabal of influential individuals who have shaped the course of world events," wrote Jay Busbee of Shutdown Corner. "So it makes perfect sense that Beyonce would flash their triangle sign to one of the largest viewing audiences in human history. What better way to preserve a secret?"
Many other celebrities have been documented trying to look cool while flashing the Roc-A-Fella hand sign— most because they were next to Jay-Z or heard one of his songs.
