'Beyonce Pregnant' Rumors Worried Singer Before Official Announcement
Beyonce and husband Jay-Z have been masters in keeping their private lives private. Since the couple’s highly secretive wedding in April 2008, media outlets and speculators have been left with rumors and vague answers from the two about their relationship.
However, since the R&B diva announced news of the couple’s pregnancy -- and her baby bump has been showing -- things have been harder to keep secret.
Speaking at the New York screening for her new concert DVD “Beyonce Live at Roseland,” Beyonce said she worried she might not be the first to report the news.
“The whole time I definitely was thinking, 'Everyone knows, everyone can see,” she said about the baby bump.
Despite showing slightly, the singer did manage to keep news about the pregnancy under wraps, which allowed her to surprise everyone when she officially announced her pregnancy during the MTV Music Awards in August, while performing her hit single “Love On Top.”
Although keeping the pregnancy news from the press was a success, Beyonce’s best friend Kelly Rowland could’ve revealed one secret too soon: the baby’s gender.
Rowland stated in an interview, “I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyonce at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl everything possible. She won’t be spoilt but she will be very well looked after.”
Even with the baby-on-board, Beyonce continued perform. She did admit to the challenges she faced while doing her shows.
“When you're pregnant, it's a little bit harder to breathe, so it was hard doing all the choreography and singing at the same time.”
The mom-to-be explained with her baby on the way, the concerts featured on her DVD was to be her only opportunity in 2011 to perform songs from her album “4” in front of her fans.
Beyonce fans will be treated to a view of her wedding gown on her “Live at Roseland: Elements of 4” DVD. The dress appears in the “I Was Here” video and shows a back and front shot of the dress.
Beyonce’s “Live at Roseland: Elements of 4” hits stores Nov. 29.
