"B, you came into my life a sweet southern girl. (LOL). You've blossomed into an amazing woman. I admire how you remain grounded and humble, and haven't let success change the person that you are. Mama Carter," Jay-Z's mother, and Beyonce's mother-in-law wrote.

"For Dear sweet BB on the occasion of her 31st birthday...we love you so very much," Love Gwyneth, Chris, Apple, Moses.

"Happy Birthday auntie BB, I love you. By Daniel," her nephew wrote.

Various other messages were posted on Beyonce.com, and fans flocked to social networking sites to send their own birthday wishes.

Beyonce has had a busy year with the birth of her first child Blue Ivy in January, followed by her first post-baby concert just four months later in May.

The singer, who is often praised for her worth ethic, was criticized for returning to work so soon but she explained that by getting back to business she was simply trying not to "lose" herself in motherhood.

"It is exciting. I'm feeling a little nervous. I'm enjoying being a mother so it's like going back to my old job and it's a little strange but it's important that you don't lose yourself … that you have your own passions and I'm back to work. I'm back to business," she previously said in a candid video that was posted on her website days before the New Jersey concert.

"What I am trying to say with this show is 'Yes, I had a baby' and it just made me even more grounded and more like you," she added.
