Beyonce Super Bowl Performance: Singer Shares Rehearsal Photos
Beyonce recently shared photos of her rehearsing for her upcoming Super Bowl performance and fans have begun suspecting whether the singer intends to lip-synch following the inauguration backlash.
In one photo, the 31-year-old Grammy-Award winning singer is seen wearing a Brooklyn Nets shirt during Super Bowl dance rehearsals and in the second photo her backup dancers are seen practicing a dance routine. The stunning photos are a tease for anxious fans who are now asking whether the lip-synching controversy has made Beyonce feel pressured to sing live at the Super Bowl.
On Monday, Beyonce took to the stage during President Barack Obama's Inauguration where she belted out a flawless rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner."
Within hours it was revealed that the singer did not actually sing live, prompting widespread backlash from critics, according to The New York Post.
It has since been claimed that Beyonce did in fact lip-synch because she was reportedly saving herself for the Superbowl.
"She's getting ready for the Super Bowl so [the marine band] didn't have a chance to do anything with her until the night. So it's a very tight window of opportunity," Marine Corps Band director Colonel Michael Colburn told Daily Mail.
Kristin DuBois, who is a representative for the United States Marine Band, recently confirmed that Beyonce did not sing live at Obama's Inauguration.
"All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day," said DuBois. "We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don't know what the reason why."
While critics argue that Beyonce's lip-synching was disrespectful, fans have countered that she still used her own voice. A new report claims that the singer, who performs at the Superbowl in New Orleans on Feb. 3, is still stunned by the lip-synching backlash.
"She didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Pavarotti has done it! It was freezing out, and if she messed up just one note, that would have been the story," a source told Us magazine.
"Everybody uses these tracks, and the music director advised it. Any big outdoor live performance is almost always with some kind of track," the source continued. "She did sing, but used a track."
