Beyonce Takes Blue Ivy to Public Park After Parenting Skills Are Questioned
Beyonce Knowles, the 31-year-old singer and mother to Blue Ivy Carter, recently appeared at a New York City park with her daughter days after being criticized for her parenting choices.
Knowles, the wife of rap mogul Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, was spotted at JJ Byrne playground in Park Slope, Brooklyn Sunday pushing Blue Ivy on a swing, according to EnStarz.com reports. A New York Times columnist, Charles M Blow, spoke about the singer enjoying her day at the park.
"Daughter just came in the house breathless. Saw Beyonce and Blue Ivy in the kiddie park down the street," Blow tweeted Sunday. "Daughter: 'Dad, what should I do?!'"
Although Knowles seemed to be enjoying time with her daughter recently, some critics recently blasted her choice to bring her baby girl into a hot tub recently. The singer took to her personal tumblr account to post a photograph of herself with Blue Ivy in a jacuzzi-like tub.
A zap2it.com report questioned Knowles' decision to hold a seemingly sleeping infant in the hottub, citing the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, which reportedly warns mother against taking children under five years old into such territory.
The article also pointed out the dangers of taking young children into hot tubs, which has been reported by livestrong.com.
"It's dangerous to take your baby into the hot tub because of the heat. Your baby cannot regulate his body temperature well and can overheat in a hot tub quickly," livestrong.com states. "Overheating can make him extremely uncomfortable and cause his heart to race. In some cases, overheating can cause death."
Dr. Lyn Laboriel, a Los Angeles Pediatrician, reportedly told Zap2it.com more about the dangers of taking babies into hot tubs.
"The risk in taking a baby, or even a young child, into a hot tub is that they are at high risk for hyperthermia -- that is having their body temperature go up to a dangerous level," Laboriel reportedly told Zap2it.com. "The water in a hot tub usually is between 100 and 104 degrees and our body temps are ideally at 98.6. Babies cannot control their internal temperatures when challenged like that ... It is much too risky."
While Knowles' camp has yet to respond to allegations brought against her, the singer has made it clear how important being a mother is to her.
"I just adore being a mother, hearing her say Mama and call me when she needs something," she told Shape magazine earlier this year. "It makes me feel like I have a real purpose here. I enjoy all the things people warned me would be tough to handle."
