Beyonce Vegan Diet: Singer Eating Apple, Cucumber, Edamame
Beyonce has reportedly started eating at least one vegan meal per day in order to stay in shape, thanks to the advice of her personal trainer.
The 31-year-old Grammy award-winning singer gained 57 pounds during her 2011 pregnancy with Blue Ivy. By May 2012, less than six months after giving birth, Beyonce had already shed the excess weight and flaunted her enviable figure on stage during her "come back" concert at Revel Beach Ovation Hall in Atlantic City.
"Y'all have no idea how hard I worked," Beyonce told the audience. "They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!"
Marco Borges, Beyonce's personal trainer, is the man behind the singer's weight loss and he recently revealed some secrets to her success. It is believed that he also helped her get into shape for her recent Super Bowl halftime show performance.
"One vegan meal a day because this typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would," Borges told Life & Style magazine. "Consistency is the key to success. I love running-spring intervals for quick cardio sessions and also ... running stairs."
The singer, who once went on the extreme maple syrup diet to lose weight for "Dream Girls," has reportedly sworn off the controversial diet and now instead eats nutritious foods.
"If you have to snack, don't sacrifice nutrition," Borges explained, adding that instead of chips Beyonce eats edamame, a green apple, cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon.
"I'll put on a song that I really like and do biceps curls with 5-pound weights for the whole song," Beyonce previously told Self magazine. "I can't eat what I want, and I can't not go to the gym … There are no quick, easy secrets. The truth is, it's a lot of sacrifice. It's more about your mental strength than your physical strength."
