Beyonce Wears Fur Despite PETA Protests?
Beyonce carried a fur coat during a recent concert despite protests she's received from animal rights activists. Her sister Solange Knowles performed.
Beyonce, the 31-year-old recording artist and actress, was recently spotted with a white fur at the March 6 Armory Party at MoMA in New York City while attending her younger sister's performance. However, the wardrobe choice comes on the heels of a number of protests against her taking place within the PETA organization.
The singer recently drew the ire of PETA after her often-worn Isabel Marant sneaker wedge style shoes were personalized by PMK! using stingray, ostrich, cald hair, crocodile and anaconda, according to HollywoodLife.com reports. The custom shoe design was named "The King Bey," but PETA reportedly found them to be anything but royal.

"These custom-made kicks come with a high price-and it's paid by the various animals who were beaten and skinned alive or cruelly farmed and killed," said a statement released by PETA. "Although most people aren't as familiar with the types of animals (snakes, stingrays, crocodiles, and ostriches) killed for this single pair of sneakers as they are with the cats and dogs we share our homes with, these animals are highly sensitive living beings who try hard to avoid capture and suffer enormously when trapped, netted, speared, and skinned alive."
However, PMK! chose to defend the singer from the scrutiny of those fighting for animal rights.
"No animals were beaten, harmed, or killed in the development and crafting of the 'King Bey' sneaker. The exotic skins used to construct the 'King Bey' sneaker were at the sole discretion of PMK and are not in association with any decisions, requests, or opinions of Beyonce and her affiliated parties," a PMK! representative told HollywoodLife.com. "All leather and exotic skins used by PMK are from a legal supplier in New York."
Still, Beyonce is no stranger from receiving the backlash of the animal rights organization. After viewing her costume from the highly publicized Super Bowl halftime show where she performed, PETA representatives spoke out publicly about her python and iguana costume created by designer Rubin Singer.
Recently, a PETA representative released a statement speaking about the hope that Beyonce will begin to make different choices for her personal wardrobe.
"We hope that Beyoncé will choose to wear more clothes from her own clothing line- which features faux fur- and that one day, she'll go completely cruelty-free," PETA said in a statement. "She can always choose the cruelty-free and 'green' fashion favored by compassionate, chic celebrities such as Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway and designers such as award-winning fashion queen Stella McCartney."
