Beyonce's Sister Solange Lunges at Jay Z, Violently Assaults Hip Hop Mogul in Elevator (VIDEO)
Solange Knowles, the younger sister of Beyonce, was captured on video violently attacking the singer's husband Jay Z.
On May 5 the trio attended a Met Gala afterparty at the Standard Hotel in New York and the incident occurred inside of an elevator. Surveillance shows a seemingly calm Beyonce standing inside of an elevator and as Solange and Jay Z enter, violence ensues.
Solange, 27, and the hip hop mogul, 44, exchange a few words before she lunges at him. Beyonce's longtime bodyguard Julius appears to hit the emergency stop button before intervening and separating the pair.
It is unclear what exactly prompted the fight however Beyonce, 32, maintains her composure for the most part and at one point stands between her husband and her sister in an attempt to keep them apart. Solange proceeds to kick Jay Z as he tries to defend himself and Julius struggles to keep her back.
Earlier in the night there were no signs of strain as Beyonce and Solange posed for a number of selfies at the Met Gala. Jay Z was also photographed enjoying the annual fashion event and even posed for photos alongside his wife as well as Kanye West.
On Saturday Beyonce and Jay Z appeared to be in good spirits while watching the Brooklyn Nets beat the Miami Heat 104-90. The Hollywood power couple sat court side laughing and chatting to actor Jake Gyllenhaal during the match.
In 2008 Solange, who has a 9-year old son Daniel Julez J. Smith from her ex-husband Daniel Smith, made headlines when she openly blasted a Fox News Las Vegas reporter for mentioning Jay Z during a live interview.
The reporter asked the singer off-camera if she would comment on the closing of Jay-Z's Las Vegas Club 40/40 which did not go down well. Solange appeared to think that the question was asked on-air which prompted her seemingly frustrated response.
"I have to say, that was not a very professional introduction before. Please don't tie me into family and my brother-in-law's establishment," Solange said before producers informed her that the interview was not yet "live."
