Beyond PS4, PlayStation VR Could Also Be Used With PC
Sony's PlayStation VR has potential to expand beyond the console market or beyond the PlayStation 4, according to a company executive. The PSVR could possibly work with the PC, though it may be a long time before that becomes a reality.
Sony Computer Entertainment Executive Vice President Masayasu Ito talked with Japanese publication Nikkei recently. Ito revealed during the interview that Sony has bigger plans for the PlayStation VR. The company is considering plans of making the PSVR compatible with the PC as well.
However, fans looking forward to a PlayStation VR as a PC accessory might need to wait a long time as it isn't in the company's short-term plans. Sony might also need to make sure the PSVR took off with the PS4 first before it went ahead and consider moving to the PC territory and that will take a while.

"Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there," Ito told Nikkei as translated by Segment Next. "At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I'd say there will be an expansion into various fields."
The PlayStation VR is set to become the first major VR device to launch in the console market. The headset is scheduled to release worldwide in October for $399/€399/£349. Overall, the PSVR is expected to be a mid-range VR device, with Google Cardboard and the like at the lower end and the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive occupying the premium or higher-end market.
The device works well and doesn't cost much, according to PC Gamer. It's something the publication believes will fill a gap in the PC market. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive along with the hardware they need to run on are expensive.
