4. It would change the definition of sex to include 'pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition'

The Equality Act would also change the definition of “sex” to include “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition.”

In addition, the legislation mandates that “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition shall not receive less favorable treatment than other physical conditions.”

According to Tony Perkins, president of the socially conservative Family Research Council, under the provisions of the Equality Act referencing pregnancy and childbirth, “any American who doesn’t want to fund, offer, perform, or participate in abortion on demand will have no real choice.”

The letter written by 21 Christian conservatives to House and Senate leaders and the vice president contends that the Equality Act was “the largest expansion of taxpayer-funded abortion this country has ever seen.”

“The Equality Act is unacceptable because it is anti-life and creates a right to demand abortion from health care providers,” the Christian leaders wrote.
