'Big Little Lies' Renewal: Season 2 Renewal Deemed Unnecessary
After the explosive finale of the limited series, "Big Little Lies," some fans are now clamoring for season 2 of the star-studded drama, which is something that they might never get.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Jean-Marc Vallee said that he is not looking to make a second season of the series.
"To do a season 2, I'm not for it. Let's move on and do something else. If there's an opportunity to reunite with Reese, Nicole and these characters of course, I'll be a part of it, but Big Little Lies One is a one-time deal," he stated.

"Big Little Lies 2? Nah. The end is for the audience to talk about. Imagine what you want to imagine and that's it. We won't give you a season two because it's so good like this. Why spoil it?" he went on to say.
"Big Little Lies" was only meant to be a limited series. It is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Liane Moriarty. The whole novel was covered in the eight episodes of the show.
Although Valle seems to be adamant in passing up doing "Big Little Lies" season 2, Romper suggests that this is not the end of the road for the show.
The publication points out that there are other book adaptations that thrived even though they went beyond the source material, such as "The Leftovers" and "Game of Thrones." This could be the case for "Big Little Lies" too.
However, as Vallee pointed out, "Big Little Lies" season 2 was never planned at all as it was always meant to be a one-off series.
Many media outlets also believe that the show does not need one and a new season might just ruin the experience. Vanity Fair is one to insist of leaving "Big Little Lies" as it is.
While a season 2 renewal for "Big Little Lies" is a no-brainer considering its sweeping success in viewership and ratings, the site believes that HBO has to make it happen.
With all that said, "Big Little Lies" season 2 is something that fans may not see at all.
