'Bill and Ted 3' Movie Update, Release: Keanu Reeves Reveals Title as They 'Try to Get It Made'
The third "Bill and Ted" franchise will be titled "Bill and Ted Face the Music." This was revealed by actor Keanu Reeves — one half of the air guitar-rocking duo — at the New York Comic Con (NYCC).
At the panel for his upcoming film "Replicas" during the event, Reeves said that they are "trying" to make the project happen, but that it is proving to be difficult.
He said, per IGN, that there is a script for "Bill and Ted 3" already and they are "just trying to get it made." Reeves went on to say:
Show business is tough. It's a cautionary tale. They're supposed to save the world. But when we see them they haven't saved the world and they're married and have kids. And they're playing to nobody ... But they have to write the song... and face the music! Hopefully we'll make it before I'm 60.
It will be interesting to see who will recruit Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted come "Bill and Ted 3" following the death of George Carlin, who played the role of Rufus in the first two films.
On the other hand, Winter, who has also been working with Reeves to make a third "Bill and Ted" movie possible, is expected to reprise his role.
In the original film "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" released in 1989, two seemingly dim-witted metalhead teens Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves) learn they are destined to save the world.
In the year 2688, they are hailed as the Two Great Ones in a utopian city that was born out of their music and wisdom. The future of the world hinges on the two passing their history class.
A sequel titled "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" was released in 1991 and followed the pair as they deal with a threat to their utopian city.
