'Black Clover' Episode 5 Spoilers: What Unforeseen Complication Is About to Descend on the Magic Knights Entrance Exam?

The world has just become much bigger for Asta and Yuno on the Japanese action-fantasy series, "Black Clover." Now that the two of them have reached the castle town of Kikka in the Royal Capital, have they also come that much closer to their dream of becoming the next Wizard King?

The Magic Knights Entrance Exam has begun, and despite having failed all of the initial tests concerning the use of magic, Asta was able to turn things around after effortlessly defeating the sly Bronze Creation magic user, Sekke Bronzazza.

Ever since he came to Kikka, Asta has been sneered at and attacked by the anti-birds of the exam avenue, which were naturally attracted to candidates with very weak magic. He even had an almost fatal encounter with one of the Magic Knights Squad Captains, Yami Sukehiro of the Black Bulls.

Only one guy showed him kindness. However, this same guy also turned out to be the kind of mage who preferred to win with the littlest effort possible. Apparently, the only reason he was friendly with Asta was that the latter was the weakest-looking candidate on the arena.

But now that Asta has shown just what his five-leaf grimoires could do, he has undoubtedly won the attention of the nine Magic Knights Squad Captains, most notably the Captain of the Black bulls, Yami, who almost crashed his head earlier.

After these incidents, it has become much clearer that the world has not just become bigger, but more dangerous for Asta and Yuno. The two of them will have more encounters with people who could either be an ally or an enemy, with the possibility of them, especially Asta, misinterpreting these people's intentions.

Will these encounters work towards breaking their spirits or building up their confidence in themselves as well as in each other?

The final test of the Magic Knights Entrance Exam continues on the next episode, titled "The Path to the Wizard King." However, the preview for the said episode seems to hint at a complication that could get in the way of the ongoing exam.

"Black Clover" airs on Tuesdays at 6:25 p.m. JST on TV Tokyo and on Fridays at late night 12:58 a.m. JST on BS11. Episodes will also be available in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
