Black Friday 2011: Best Time to Buy at Walmart, Target, JC Penneys

November is retail’s heaviest promotion month, and consumers have used the sales to deliver the best holiday gifts for many years.

Popular stores such as Bath & Body Works, Target, and JC Penneys among hundreds more participate in the holiday sales, which include the heaviest shopping day - Black Friday. The shopping event is Friday, Nov. 25 this year and will see irresistible sales that draw people in mass crowds.

Many shoppers see Black Friday as an annual tradition, and can save hundreds of dollars on their holiday shopping. Deals on electronics, toys, home goods, clothes, and jewelry can be found. Financially Fit magazine spoke to the vice president of retail operations for the National Retail Federation, Daniel Butler.

“Half of the world of retail is on sale in November, whether it’s a 20 percent markdown or 40 percent,” said Butler.

This year, Target’s sale advertisements include many deals on children’s toys. The Holiday Barbie is advertised as $34.95, Advanced Notebooks are available for $42.99, and Dr Suess’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is priced at $13.50 at the retailer.

Walmart has announced that it will be revealing Black Friday deals well before Thanksgiving to customers who sign up at Walmart.com or Facebook.com/Walmart.

The early preview will highlight the Black Friday deals, and analyst Britt Beemer attributes the move to Walmart’s attempt to identify who their core customers are.

Black Friday is the preamble to Cyber Monday, another highly anticipated shopping event where people take to the internet to do holiday shopping.

With Black Friday 2011 approaching in just a few weeks, consumers are undoubtedly scouring the Web for the best deals and price mark-downs of the season.

Gottadeal.com, one of the oldest Black Friday websites, leaked the first Black Friday ads for the upcoming holiday shopping season just last week.

The website helps consumers find exactly what they are looking for by obtaining leaked copies of sale advertisements and publishing them for users to browse, and attracts millions of visitors each year.

Additionally, the Gottadeal.com provides features such as coupons, information about online deals, a forum for questions, message boards, and gives users the option of creating a shopping list to which they can add and save items from the Black Friday ads as they peruse for deals. The site even breaks down the deals for consumers by store.

According to the press release, Gottadeal.com will be continuing its "Black Friday Live" webcasts, where "throughout the next 6 weeks, when every new Black Friday ad is leaked on the site, there will be a live video webcast and chat where visitors can discuss the latest ad, ask questions and more. New this year, visitors will be able to call in live to get their questions answered."

Gottadeal.com will again be giving away over $2,500 in prizes in a separate contest.
