'Black Hammer' News: Comic's Story Continues in 2018 With New Title 'Age of Doom'

Creators of the popular comic book franchise "Black Hammer" confirmed that their story will continue in 2018 but under a new title - "Black Hammer: Age of Doom."

In a press release, publisher Dark Horse Comics confirmed that writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dean Ormston would continue the story of "Black Hammer" and it would kick off sometime in April 2018.

Dark Horse Comics also told fans that "Age of Doom" would continue to explore the world of Spiral City and magnify the adventures of its "forgotten champions." Some of the heroes who have already been introduced in the franchise are Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Colonel Weird, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien.

It has also been confirmed that the story to be released in 2018 will pick off from "the events of the cliffhanger ending of issue thirteen of 'Black Hammer.'"

Ormston said in a statement: "Black Hammer ends with a major, game changing revelation. Readers are super keen to find out how our heroes are stuck on the farm and more answers, twists and turns are coming in Black Hammer: Age of Doom."

The continuation of the main title's narrative will happen after the launch of the spin-off miniseries next month. "Sherlock Frankenstein and The Legion of Evil" was written by Lemire and illustrated by David Rubin.

In a way these upcoming spin-offs is an antonym of the narrative featured in the main "Black Hammer" stories. If the original books focused on telling the stories of Spiral City's finest heroes, the miniseries will show fans how the city's most fearsome villains were made.

While the spin-off is slightly a takeaway from the original narrative, Lemire reiterated in a previous report: "The main Black Hammer story continues to be the spine of these ideas, but I found them branching off into new directions and new characters as well."

"Sherlock Frankenstein and The Legion of Evil" is out on Oct. 18.
