'Black Sails' News: Ray Stevenson and Zach McGowan Tease Bigger Events in Season 3
The popularity of "Black Sails" continues to rise as viewers are captivated by its ambitious adventures, but cast members Ray Stevenson and Zach McGown revealed that season 3 has something even bigger in store for the fans of the Starz series.
In the current season of "Black Sails," Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) is going through an identity crisis, while Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) is trying to deal with Blackbeard's (Ray Stevenson) return. A big change is also brewing ahead because Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts) now wants to put an end to piracy, Collider details.
In an exclusive interview with Collider during the TCA Press Tour, Stevenson and McGowan described the chemistry between them and how they treat the cast and crew as their family. They also explained how Edward Teach's return will affect Vane's perspective and revealed that the show raises the bar with every season that comes, the report relays.
When asked what fans should watch out for in "Black Sails" season 3, Stevenson said they should be excited about the way the script was made and how the standards have been raised so high for the current season. McGowan chimed in and said the show just grows bigger every year.
"It feeds itself. It's a growing, living organism that thrives and lives up to its own success and achievements," Stevenson told Collider in the exclusive interview. "As the stunts get more courageous, it feeds into that and gives confidence to go bigger next time. They're doing incredible work, and that facilitates it. And it's every week."
As a testimony to the show's rising popularity, a second season was ordered even before the first premiered on Jan. 18, 2014. While this is not a common occurrence, the executives are delighted that the Comic-Con preview that year piqued the fans' interests, according to the Master Herald.
In October 2014, a third season was ordered, and the fourth one was ordered in July 2015. The publication says the orders reflect how the audience is receiving the series. Its availability on YouTube and other streaming platforms has also helped boost its popularity even more.
"Black Sails" airs every Saturday night on Starz.
