'Black Sails' Season 2 Release Date, Trailer: Video Promises More Pirate Adventures, Brawling and Guns
Starz renewed "Black Sails" for another season long before the first season even debuted, according to Cinemablend. It is touted by critics as a show that vividly encapsulates the daily life of pirates while keeping its characters real. And with the release of a new trailer, season 2 promises more adventure, brawling, mayhem, and romance that is sure to delight all the fans of the show.
In the trailer, Captain James Flint (Toby Stephens) tells John Silver (Luke Arnold), "Men of these waters, they don't fear ships. They don't fear guns. They don't fear swords."
John Silver then asks, "Then what do they fear?"
The clip goes on to show Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) smiling as he gets ready to fight, a canon being fired from a ship onto another ship, some romantic kissing, and brawling.
The show, created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, is said to be a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's novel "Treasure Island" and focuses on Captain Flint and his relationship with John Silver.
Arnold revealed that the cast and crew of "Black Sails" are stepping up their game for the show's second season.
"Everything we did was ten times what we got to do in the first season. We're really playing a long game with this, as far as slowly building up the characters and the mystery in this world," he told News.com.au.
As for its premiere date, fans of the series will have to wait until next year for the new episodes. The show debuted online for free on YouTube and other streaming platforms and video on demand services on Jan. 18, 2014, then made its cable TV debut one week after on Jan. 25.
The show runners will most likely stick with a January premiere for the second season.
