BlackBerry Motion Specs Rumors: Water-Resistant Handset to Arrive in the US

TCL is rumored to be preparing their next smartphone product dubbed as the BlackBerry Motion. It is expected to be released in the United States and has water-resistant features.

After TCL and BlackBerry fulfilled their promise of releasing one last handset with a well-loved keyboard on a smartphone, the companies are reportedly working together again for another launch. They might be leaving off the QWERTY keypad now but they are adding new features.

The bits of information came from two separate leaks by two known mobile reporters - Evan Blass and Roland Quandt.

Over at Blass' official Twitter page, he shared what appeared to be the upcoming smartphone's render photo. In the caption, the reporter implied that the company  was dropping its earlier rumored name Krypton and will call the handset BlackBerry Motion instead.

When one of his followers criticized the BlackBerry Motion and implied that it was not worthy of being a flagship, Blass simply replied: "Who said this was a flagship?"

On the other hand, Quandt shared some details on the device. The reporter said the device's model number was BBD100 and will be released in the United States through Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon.

TCL will offer a dual-sim variant. Quandt also clarified that this option was not only going to be offered in China but also to other "certain markets" as well.

One of Quandt's followers asked if other technical specifications details were available. The reporter only replied that the BB Motion will run with "the same ROM as the KEYone" but the upcoming device will sport a screen with a new panel and certainly without a keyboard.

Engadget also recalled that TCL earlier confirmed the next smartphone they were going to release, following the KEYone, will be their first water-resistant that adds to the list of speculated features of the BB Motion.

Since BB Motion is unlikely TCL's next flagship, it is understandably not joining the bezel-less bandwagon. In the leaked photo shared by Blass, the device sports a physical home button embedded with a BB logo design.

If the leaked render also makes it to final design and production, mobile fans can expect the device to sport a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, a USB-C port, and speakers on the bottom edge.

There are also reports that the BB Motion will sport a hefty 4,000-milliampere hour battery pack.
