Blackberry Q20 Release Date Rumors: Return of QWERTY Style Handsets?

Blackberry has been lagging behind from the mobile phone market in the recent years but later this year, the company could be releasing a new handset. The new handset is the Q20, also known as the Blackberry Classic, and it will see a probable release date of November.

Blackberry is mostly known for their QWERTY phone releases, which integrates the desktop keyboard arrangement into the phone's keypad. This has allowed users to type faster due to familiarity with a computer keyboard.

The company has lagged behind the competition since the advent of the full touch screen phones like the iPhone or the Galaxy S series. While they are still powerful in the QWERTY phone market, they have faced serious competition from Nokia, which also launched their own line of QWERTY phones.

Earlier this year during the Mobile World Congress that they would be releasing two new handsets, the Z3 and the Q20. The Z3 will be a full touch screen phone with a 5-inch screen size while the Q20 will still be a QWERTY style handset. Both phones will be running the Blackberry OS 10.2.1.

The company has sought not to abandon the QWERTY style phone line as it mostly caters to business-oriented consumers. It would seem that some faithful Blackberry users would rather prefer the physical keypad than a touch screen one.

As for the specs, the Q20 will be sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked in at 1.5GHz as well as 2GB of RAM. The Q20 will also be getting a 3.5-inch display.
