'Blindspot' Season 2 Episode 18: Huge, Tragic Changes to Befall Team Weller as Season Finale Approaches

Team Weller is falling apart as the series hits this season's final stretch. Will they be able to pull themselves together long enough to take care of a new case in the next episode of "Blindspot"?

The official synopsis for the upcoming episode aptly titled "Senile Lines" states that the team will be investigating a mysterious death at a foster home that may have been caused by corruption in the foster care system. But while they're doing what they do best, they will also be under close scrutiny by an old rival, against which Team Weller will have to band together to more effectively defend themselves.

Will they be able to keep a strong front while simultaneously working on the foster home case? How does this case, which the team will discover through one of Jane's (Jaimie Alexander) tattoos, connect with Sandstorm's plans?

The official trailer for the episode does not only preview the return of their old rival, U.S. Attorney Weitz (Aaron Abrams), but also the imminent departure of one major character. Who will it be and how will his or her exit affect the general dynamics of the team?

Additionally, executive producer Martine Gero has just revealed via Entertainment Weekly's latest Spoiler Room that there will be more death before "Blindspot" closes its curtains on season 2.

"We're backing Shepherd [Michelle Hurd] into a corner, and Shepherd is a dangerous wild animal, so when you back a wild animal into a corner, people are going to get hurt," Gero added.

In line with this, TV Guide has also reported that Team Weller is about to face a huge shake-up that will subsequently bring a new FBI chief in to look after their affairs. This new boss will be a female with a Southern charm and who only wants what's best for Jane. There is speculation that actress-director Mary Stuart Masterson, who has just signed on for a guest role, could be playing this character.

"Blindspot" season 2 episode 18 airs on Wednesday, April 5 at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
