'Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond' Episode 3 Spoilers: Old Manga Chapter Gets Adapted to Anime in 'Day In Day Out'

It has been three years since the Great Collapse happened, and Hellsalem's Lot emerged from the rubbles of New York City. However, its consequences are still at the very core of the Japanese action-fantasy anime series, "Kekkai Sensen & Beyond (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond)."

What has only been mentioned in passing before has now gained form and filled up most of the previous episode with exciting flashbacks that has led fans to comment that this has, by far, surpassed the quality of the second season's premiere episode.

The episode had Zapp, the hotheaded member of the crime-fighting organization Libra, admitted to the Bradbury General Hospital after being critically injured following a collision with a tank. The said hospital, however, is also known as Phantom Hospital; that is, the hospital itself appears and disappears into the mist at intervals, much like the infamous ghostly ship, Flying Dutchman.

This particular hospital also happens to play a significant role in Klaus Von Reinherz and Steven A. Starphase's memories of the Great Collapse, which they shared with series protagonist Leonardo Watch, and were satisfyingly animated by Studio Bones, much to the fans' delight.

And now, it seems that the pattern of going back and adapting previously skipped manga chapters into anime continues with the next episode titled, "Day In Day Out," which was the seventh chapter of the source manga by Yasuhiro Nightow.

The said chapter also focuses on Steven, as well as the suit-clad werewolf, Chain Sumeragi, who is also a member of the organization, Libra. There will also be glimpses of Leo and his sister, Michella Watch.

The preview for the episode also has Chain's voiceover saying that the key to living peacefully is to have no expectations, refrain from going overboard with anything, and never get caught in other people's affairs.

"Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond" airs on Saturdays late night at 3:08 a.m. JST on MBS and on Sundays late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX and BS11. It also airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. JST on AT-X. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes will also be simulcast in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
