Blood-Red Texas Lake a Sign of the End Times?
A man-made lake in Texas has almost entirely dried up but what's catching attention is the deep, blood-like color of the water that is left.
Photos of the OC Fisher Reservoir in San Angelo State Park that began circulating fishing forums last week have conjured up apocalyptic images, with one preacher from Indiana saying the lake is another sign of the end times.
"I'm not saying that this Texas lake is these scriptures in Revelation but what I am saying is the Bible prophecies are slowly fulfilling themselves in the midst of an end time revelation – that we need to be right, we need to be saved, we need to be born again and ready to meet the coming king," said Paul Begley of Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox.
The OC Fisher Reservoir, which was completed in 1952 by the U.S. Corps of Engineers for flood control on the North Concho River, was once home to largemouth bass, white bass and catfish. It has not been at full capacity for years as it had not fully recovered from a low-oxygen fish kill that occurred in 2004.
But the last several months have been the driest in Texas since 1895, according to Lower Colorado River Authority.
All the fish have died and the water – what's left of it – has turned red as the state experiences a major drought this year.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries officials said the water's color is the result of Chromatiaceae bacteria, according to Live Science.
Though the world may not be in the end times just yet, Begley says "we're so close."
In his YouTube clip, Begley cites a passage in the last book of the Bible, Revelation 16: "The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
"The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died. The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood."
"The sea, the rivers, the lakes are going to become blood-red," Begley said.
"Jesus Christ is coming," he declared. "If you're not saved, send me a personal message right here."
