'Blue Bloods' Season 7 Spoilers: Danny's Worst Nightmare is Coming True; Frank Will Be Back As Police Commissioner

Danny goes to trial for a serial killer's death.

In the "Blue Bloods" Season 7 premiere coming soon in CBS, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) is about to face the greatest challenge of his life. The district attorney's office has found new evidence that might end his career and tarnish the Reagan legacy.

Serial killer's death

In the previous season of "Blue Bloods", Danny's final encounter with a serial killer named Thomas Wilder (Louis Cancelmi) ended with him shooting the cunning criminal to his death. Though it was in the act of self-defense, someone from the D.A.'s office found cause for an investigation, especially since the incident involved Danny's niece.

Synopsis of "The Greater Good"

At the beginning of the new season, the death of Wilder will come back to haunt Danny, according to the CBS-released synopsis.

The Reagan patriarch, Frank (Tom Selleck) will still stay in his post, since the mayor did not accept his resignation last season.

The synopsis also mentioned that Jamie and Eddie will respond to a car crash only to be surprised that the drunk driver involved is a celebrity.

Frank is torn whether to help Grace Edwards (Lori Loughlin), the widow of a slain police officer, who begs him to talk her only son out of joining the police force.

Frank's love life and reinstatement

In another development, Frank's love life will reportedly be in the spotlight in Season 7 of "Blue Bloods". After his wife died, he is once again being linked to someone. No details about the woman available as of the moment.

Another happy development for Frank is his reinstatement as Police Commissioner, according to spoilers. How and why this will happen are still not known.

Teaser video released

In the newly released preview of "Blue Bloods" Season 7, Danny can be seen undergoing trial for the death of Thomas Wilder. In the sequence shown, the prosecutor was intensely questioning Danny about the circumstances of Wilder's shooting. He was also asked further by the prosecutor if he was looking for revenge when he shot the serial killer.

The opening of the teaser for the episode is of Frank and Danny at the cemetery. Danny asks his dad if he ever regretted being a cop. Frank replied that he had some regrets about some decisions he had made, but being a cop was not one of them.

Viewers will also learn that Danny has nightmares about Wilder. Towards the end of the trailer, Danny will be shown backed in the corner while his colleagues accused him of shooting Wilder for revenge. This, however, could just be a part of his nightmare.

The exciting seventh season of "Blue Bloods" will be shown on September 23 on CBS.
