Bo Derek Talks Jeremy Lin on Boomer & Craig Show
Bo Derek, an American actress and internationally known model, made an appearance on "Boomer & Carton," a radio show on WFAN, to promote her appearance on CBS's television show "CSI: Miami," but ended up promoting Jeremy Lin and "Lin-sanity."
"Isn't it great? I just love it," Derek told WFAN. "It's just like the Olympics. Just when you think they will never break Mark Spitz's record, then something comes along like Michael Phelps. I love it."
She continued to state that, "Hey, I'm Bo Derek, and I have Lin-sanity." Derek is scheduled to appear "CSI: Miami" which airs Sunday night at 10 p.m.
Lin has taken the NBA by storm and within only two weeks has gone from unknown to internationally recognizable. But it is not just in America were Lin is drawing large followings but also overseas as well.
"To pull off 20+8 in six successive games shows Jeremy Lin is no fluke," Beijing-based basketball commentator and former basketball player for China's national basketball team Ma Jian said of Lin.
Lin is becoming so popular in China that finding his Knicks jersey, even a fake one, is next to impossible.
"His jerseys have sold out, even including the counterfeit ones," a clerk at a store in Zhejiang province told The New York Times.
With fans around the world rushing to become a part of "Lin-sanity," the athlete's talents are being claimed by both Mainland China and Taiwan.
Lin was born in Los Angeles, but his parents immigrated to the United States from Taiwan in the 70s. However, Lin's maternal grandmother came from Mainland China's Zhejiang province.
People in China are so thrilled about their new star that nearly 1.5 million people have mentioned Jeremy Lin on the micro-blogging site Weibo, China's national version of Twitter, according to a recent report by The New York Times.
