Bobby Brown Arrested for DUI, Talking on Phone
Bobby Brown spent several hours in prison Monday night after being arrested on drinking and driving charges.
Brown, ex-husband to the late Whitney Houston, was driving in the Reseda area of Los Angeles County when he was pulled over by California Highway police for talking on his cell phone. After Brown had been pulled over it was discovered that the R&B singer and songwriter was intoxicated. Brown was arrested and held at the local station after failing to pass a sobriety test.
"He was taken to the Los Angeles Police station in Van Nuys, where he was booked on a charge of driving under the influence," Officer Tiana Reed told CNN.
Brown was later released, following several hours in custody.
Divorce documents discovered earlier this month by Radar Online revealed that Brown had charged Whitney Houston of taking their daughter, Bobbi Kristina without his permission. "Whitney took Bobbi Kris without my prior knowledge or consent, and moved to Orange County, California, where Whitney received treatment for her drug addiction."
Brown then went on to proclaim that he became virtually homeless while trying to care for his daughter and ex-wife. "I came to California to be near Bobbi Kris. I also paid approximately $10,000 for Whitney and Bobbi Kris to live in a nice hotel while Whitney was going through rehab. At the same time, I basically lived out of my car," Brown stated in an official proclamation during divorce proceedings.
Houston's own statement however, did not include any details about attending drug rehab and instead confirmed that she had undergone oral surgery.
The cause of Houston's death was revealed last week citing a combination of heart disease and cocaine use, which caused the famed pop singer to drown while taking a bath.
