'BoJack Horseman' Renewal News: Netflix Green-Lights Season 5

Netflix confirmed its fifth installment just a few weeks after season 4 of "BoJack Horseman" premiered.

The announcement was made through the titular character's Twitter account. Since "BoJack Horseman" is a parallel world of the entertainment business, the show's official social media pages are presented as if they are being managed by the characters themselves, thus these are like extensions of the show.

Earlier this week, BoJack's official Twitter page shared a video of a phone receiving text messages from a contact that the horse actor named "clingy Netflix exec."

In five consecutive text messages, BoJack was told: "Hey BoJack, it's Netflix. We would have called but we remember how angry you got last time because we interrupted your nap... Anyway, big news! You're back for a Season 5! So keep up the good work and see you soon!"

The messages arrived on BoJack's phone on Wednesday, Sept. 20, but was shared a day after – a detail that many followers observed and made fun of as they commented at how long his nap took.

Shortly after BoJack's Twitter page confirmed the news, several real-life actors voicing the main characters also celebrated the news on social media. Paul F. Tompkins, who plays the role of Mr. Peanutbutter, shared a photo of what looked like a meeting table with his and co-star Alison Brie's names on some name plates. Brie is the voice behind the character Diane Nguyen.

Meanwhile, the actor behind BoJack's voice, Will Arnett, also shared a photo of what appeared to be the cover of a table draft of season 5's first episode's script.

"BoJack Horseman" is a hit adult animated series and an original title from Netflix. The show is popular for its theme that mixes animal and human characters in the world of Hollywood. Though the show has taken comedic tones for the most part, many have found BoJack and his story an effective way to tell a narrative of someone struggling with depression.

All four seasons of "BoJack Horseman" are now streaming on Netflix.
