‘Bombshell testimony’: 5 Important takeaways from the latest impeachment hearings
A real investigation by Ukraine not wanted
As part of his testimony, Sondland said that Trump wanted a public statement by Zelensky but was not interested in having an actual investigation by the Ukrainian government into the Biden family.
During questioning from Daniel Goldman, counsel to the House Intelligence Committee, Sondland said that he never heard “anyone say that the investigations had to start or be completed.”
“The only thing I heard from Mr. Giuliani or otherwise was that they had to be announced,” said Sondland, as reported by Vox.
“President Trump presumably, communicated through Mr. Giuliani, wanted the Ukrainians on-record publicly that they were going to do those investigations.”
