Brennan Welcomes Back Sully With Open Arms in 'Bones' Season 12 Episode 8
Sully (Eddie McClintock) is back in D.C. and he wants to see his ex-girlfriend, Brennan (Emily Deschanel), in the upcoming episode of "Bones."
In the episode titled "The Grief and the Girl," the synopsis reveals that Brennan will be dealing with her grief after losing her father. Max (Ryan O'Neal) was shot when he was trying to protect his grandchildren from the hooligans targeting Booth (David Boreanaz).
Many years ago, the FBI agent and his squad took down a Bosnian warlord. When news surfaced that members of his old Army team were being killed, Booth knew it was only a matter of time until he became the target. He put his family in an FBI safehouse. However, the bad guys still managed to infiltrate security. Max was shot and later died in the hospital.

Brennan is left reeling after her father passed away. She blames herself for what happened, and she also cannot help but feel angry at her husband. Booth is partly the reason why Max died.
As the tension between them escalates, Brennan will have a surprise visitor. Sully is back. He has heard the news about Brennan's dad and wants to give her some sort of comfort.
The last time viewers saw Sully was back in season 2. He was in his boat that he named after Brennan. He left D.C. after she said "no" to his suggestion that they run away together.
In an extended teaser, the cast members share their thoughts about Sully. According to Tamara Taylor, who plays Cam, Brennan definitely loved Sully. Had she accepted his offer in the past, she might have led a different life than the one she is living now.
When Sully arrives at the Jeffersonian, Brennan welcomes him back with open arms. The others crowd around to witness the reunion, eager to see what Brennan's ex looks like. Although some of the fans think that Sully is back to steal Brennan from Booth, McClintock makes it clear that is not the case. In the promo, Sully shows he has no intention of destroying her marriage. Brennan also assures Booth that she loves only him. Sully is a good friend and he has given her great comfort during her most difficult times.
"Bones" season 12 airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
